Our Nurses

Meet the nurses...

Jolene Johnston

HEAD VETERINARY NURSE

I got into Veterinary Nursing slightly later than most and qualified this year (2007). Through working at Braids I have developed an interest in Animal Physiotherapy and hope to go on to sit my Certificate in this area. In the small amount of time that I don't spend at work, I spend walking my accident prone black labrador "Dot".

Kathryn Stormont

DEPUTY-HEAD VET NURSE
I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in early 2002 and joined the Braid Vets in February 2005. I have since been promoted to Deputy Head Nurse and am involved in the training of Student Nurses as well as running our Diabetes Clinic. I have 1 cat named Oli who was brought into the hospital as a stray.

Karen Roberts

Student Veterinary Nurse
I have been working at Braid Vets since March 2005, where I started as Kennel Assistant. I have an HNC in Animal Care and am currently studying to become a qualified veterinary nurse.

Karen Cairney

RVN
I qualified as a VN in 2007. I started working at the Braid Vets in 2006 as a Locum Nurse and became a permanent member of the team in the Summer of 2007. Out of work, I have an American Bulldog called Bauer, who, although a giant is very gentle!

Cheryl MacKenzie

RVN
I qualified as a VN in 2004 and I now run the Weight Clinics here at Braid Vets. I have a cat called ‘Oli Bear’ and a Rottweiler called ‘Ty’. In my spare time (if I get any), it’s spent socialising with friends and looking after cats and small furries as I run a pet-sitting service.

Nicola McDowall

RVN
I qualified as a VN in 2004. I have been at Braid Vets for 5years, firstly as a Student Nurse and now as a Qualified VN. I currently work Part-Time and the rest of my spare time is spent looking after my 18 month old son.

Tracy Dinnell

RVN
I qualified as a VN in August 1997. Over the years my role in the practice has changed, from Kennel Assistant, to Full-Time VN and then to Part-Time VN in 2003. I am now in charge of the newsletter, the website, all insurance claims, and am doing the Assessor training for Student Nurses. My free time is spent with my Fiance and two young sons.

Vicky Annan

RVN
I qualified as a Veterinary Nurse in February 2002. I have had various roles within Braid Vets, starting out as Kennel Assistant, to Deputy Head Nurse and now I am Senior Vet Nurse at our Leith Walk branch. When I have any time for myself, I enjoy drawing, painting and travelling.
